2006 Technical Guide

The group’s name was changed in September 2004 to SEVES S.p.A. (Sediver Vetroarredo System). The Florence-based company today manages a multinational group of glass-making enterprises, world leaders in the production and marketing of insulators for electrical lines and glass blocks.

The Vetroarredo brand lives on: in just a few years it has become synonymous with the new “glass block” with superior technical and qualitative characteristics. Even more so after the debut of Pegasus®, the latest version of the Vetroarredo glass block, as its revolutionary geometry is destined to quickly replace traditional glass block.

Today Vetroarredo includes two product lines: Pegasus® and Classic.

PEGASUS is a new glass block with wings which makes it possible to build walls, using traditional laying methods, which have no visible connections between the blocks used.

Fire is a terrible hazard for all buildings. Particularly so for those parts of the building in glass block, whose transparency might give the impression of a lower resistance to extreme heat.
The reality however is that glass, born out of fire, is less susceptible to the effects of fire than other materials, so much so that it is categorized “Class 0”, along with other “incombustible” materials. This is all the more true when research into the form of the glass block has been perfected to guarantee a better defence against fire, as is the case with the new glass block 1910C/60, produced by Vetroarredo Group in their factory at Duchcov in North Western Bohemia, in the Czech Republic.
